The Safety 1st is yet another great model that is bound to show up on any topic of the best travel systems in 2019.

This is one of the most affordable options available, and might interest moms who want a cheap travel system without sacrificing so much on the features that make life easy during long summer walks.

This travel system comes in a pack of 3 items; an infant car seat, an adjustable base, and the stroller.

The included seat is the rear-facing OnBoard 35 LT infant car seat with a head and body insert that comfortably accommodates your baby right from birth (minimum 4 pounds) to when they are 35 pounds.

But what you’ll really love and what makes this the best travel system for 2019 is that this seat comes airplane-ready. What I mean here is that it is FAA-approved.

The sticker is on the left shoulder and easily visible by both the parents and flight attendants. In addition, this seat weighs around 8 lbs thereby making it a true flight option.

It’s a good thing that this seat ships with its compatible base. But the good news is that you can also install it in your car without the base. This seat is compact and has a clearly marked belt guide that makes the installation process fairly easy (if not a breeze).

Speaking of installation, the OnBoard 35 LT seat boasts the QuickClick technology by Safety 1st. This technology basically makes it easy to switch the seat from the car to the stroller in one click without waking a sleeping infant.

The cheap travel system also brings an awesome stroller with almost all the features that most parents would be looking for.

Its seat unit is quite large and spacious and it’s meant to accommodate the passenger till 50 pounds (that’s around 5 years or when they don’t require the stroller any longer).

It has a good recline that is easy to use and a 5-point harness system that holds the baby in place. The canopy is fairly large and very easy to use and it also has one thing that most moms would shell out a few more dollars for; a peek-a-boo window.

This window not only allows you an easy view of your passenger. But the fact that it’s made of a mesh fabric means that it also helps in adjusting the temperatures in the buggy.

One feature that I would add to this seat unit is an adjustable leg rest for toddlers who have just outgrown the infant car seat although its absence does not make this stroller unusable. Actually, there is a removable footrest only that it’s way down and might only be usable with older children.

What this stroller lacks in the adjustable leg rest it makes for it with an extra-large basket beneath the seat. It also has a tray for your child to keep their essentials (toys and small snacks) within reach and another one to hold your drink.

The Safety 1st Smooth Ride stroller has a one-piece handle that makes pushing with one hand easy. It also has a basically simple wheel system with swiveling front wheels for easy maneuvers. There is also a user-friendly flip-flop brake system at the back that makes braking easy and straightforward.

One thing that I should tell you is that the Smooth Ride Travel System is meant for strolls in cities and might frustrate in unbeaten roads debit to the small-sized plastic wheels.

Folding and storing this stroller is superbly easy too. It uses a lift-to-fold design that literally requires no effort at all. And what’s even more amazing is that it stands alone when folded so it won’t be an additional item that you’ll need to struggle with.

What to keep in mind before purchasing this travel system

The Smooth Ride is one of the best travel systems for 2019 for parents who want affordability. It’s light and very easy to use. But it does not come without a few drawbacks. The biggest con that I found with it was the lack of an adjustable footrest. This means that your toddler will be dangling his/her feet throughout the strolls until they are tall enough to reach the removable footrest.
