10 products your newborn will need

When I was pregnant I came across Zooey's blog LittleBabyGear.com with reviews of baby strollers, swings and carriers which helped me to choose the right baby gear for my first baby. Thanks to that I felt less overwhelmed than first-time parents usually do.

Preparing to parenthood is long and difficult process. There is a lot of information that future parents have to learn and lot of baby products that they have to purchase.

I decided to create my own list of the must-have items for newborn baby.

Often before the baby is born, parents prepare a baby room and equip it with baby gear. There are plenty of products that parents will use every day like diapers or wipes, but also there are few baby products that will serve them for couple of first months or years.

Here is my list of 10 baby products that are necessary for newborns:

Crib

Your baby will need of course a place to sleep. Sometimes parents sleep with their baby for couple of first months, but often they use a crib. If the crib is big enough, baby can sleep in it for two years. However, when the baby can stand up it shouldn’t be left unobserved, because it can fall out of the crib.

There are plenty different models of cribs. I like wooden cribs the most. Also, some models have movable one side of the crib rungs. This feature might be very useful when we take the baby out of the crib.

Stroller

Parents often go out with their children. They go for a walk, to run some errands or they go shopping. Some parents jog with their kids sitting in a special jogging stroller.

Choosing a good stroller is very important decision, because this piece of baby gear is not the cheapest one and it should serve even for couple of years!

Infant car seat

This products will be essential if you want to drive a car with your baby. Without an infant car seat you cannot transport your baby by car. This seat is specially design to provide maximum safety for the baby during transportation.

Today many stroller features compatibility with major infant car seat brands, thanks to which we can easily install the car seat onto the stroller frame. On the market there are also many fantastic & safe travel systems.

Travel system consists of a frame, infant car seat and toddler seat. Travel systems work without any adapters or have adapters built-in! Therefore the transition between car, stroller and home is simple and we don’t have to wake our baby.

Changing Table

Changing tables usually have very useful storage cabinets and shelves, where we can keep everything we might need during changing a diaper or during cleaning the baby within reach (diapers, wipes, creams and other baby cosmetics). Beside the changing table itself, we will need also changing pad covers. They are nicely padded so our baby can lie comfortably during changing a diaper.

Carrier

Baby wearing became recently very popular. It’s great way to bond with our baby. It’s also safe way to move around your home with the baby. After birth I used Ergobaby Adapt. Shoulder strap very convenient for me and I knew that my baby is sleeping in comfy and safe position, close to my heart.

Playmat

Playmats are great for newborns when they mostly lie or just start to learn how to turn over from the belly to back. Playmats are also great way to learn our baby new things because they usually have many colorful images of animals, fruits, vehicles etc.

Monitor

Parents can’t leave the baby unobserved while sleeping. But video baby monitors are a great solutions. They can move around the house and fulfill their duties and carry the monitor with themselves and watch the baby the whole time. When the baby wakes up or starts crying they can react immediately.

Baby Bathtub

There are lot of model of baby bathtub. We can find models with adjustable seat. Taking a bath might be so much fun!

Swing

Swings are very useful especially if your baby has colic or likes to fall asleep being swung. Baby can not only sleep comfortable but also just lie and watch colorful toys hanging above its head.

Bottle Sterilizer

It’s a must have especially if you can’t or don’t want to breastfeed and use "bottle" feeding instead. With bottle sterilizer you can be sure the bottle is really clean and safe for your baby.
